Está muy extendido el uso de los adverbios delante, detrás, encima, debajo y enfrente seguidos de los posesivos mío, mía, tuyo, tuya, suyo, suya, nuestro, nuestra, vuestro y vuestra.
Precisamente por culpa de estar tan extendido el error, se tiende a creer que es correcto. El principal problema está en la cantidad de veces que se escucha en la televisión, la radio y el cine; el detrás mía está presente en películas, series, letras de canciones, debates e incluso en el telediario.
Además de ser incorrecto, este uso causa mucha confusión respecto al género. Si queremos decir que, por ejemplo, hay una furgoneta detrás de Luis, la forma correcta sería «la furgoneta está detrás de él». Si se emplease la forma de la que hablamos, habría dudas entre «la furgoneta está detrás suyo» o «la furgoneta está detrás suya», porque no se sabe muy bien si al posesivo se le aplicaría el género masculino de Luis, el femenino de la furgoneta o el hipotético género de detrás (cuando es evidente que los adverbios no tienen género).
Al tratarse de adverbios, no pueden poseerse. Por tanto, no pueden emplearse con posesivos, sino con la preposición de seguida de un pronombre.
El Diccionario panhispánico de dudas de la RAE aborda esta cuestión de la siguiente manera:
«Por su condición de adverbio, no se considera correcto su uso con posesivos:
detrás mío,detrás suyo, etc. (debe decirse detrás de mí, detrás de él, etc.)».
En el Panhispánico se encuentran entradas similares con los demás adverbios con los que existe este problema (delante, encima, debajo y enfrente), pero con citar una de ellas es suficiente.
